Outsourcing has been going on for decades, and pretty much every country does it. In the manufacturing industry, everything is made in China. In the animation industry, everything is animated in Korea. Call centers are outsourced to India.
Back in the early 1900's, we kept jobs in America and hired American workers. Animation was completely done in-house, and we were the center of the manufacturing world.
Then, for some reason, everything was sent overseas. Companies claim they do it to save money, but think of how those overseas workers are treated. They work long hours with little pay. So I suppose saving a few bucks is more important to these corporations than decent human rights? Pathetic.
A specific example I'm getting at is with the manufacturing company Foxxcon. There was big news a few years ago that dozens of employees were attempting suicide over their poor working conditions. What's the point of outsourcing if the workers are discontented and miserable with their jobs? Human rights gets thrown out the window I guess.
To be fair, recently Apple has been auditing Foxxcon for the way they treat their workers, but you know what would solve this whole problem? Bring back these jobs to America. Quality should take precedence over "saving money". You'd think these corporations would be rich enough to build their own facilities and hire their own workers. Oh heavens no, they just want to go about it the cheapest way possible!
Our economy is in shambles, and if all these jobs were brought back to America, then we'd be much better off. The job market would increase, workers would have jobs, and the overall economy would be in better shape. How is the economy and job market supposed to get better if everything is outsourced overseas?
Well, my rant is over. If you have any comments or opinions of your own, feel free to share them.
